Rogue Trip

In September of 2006 Jeff invited me along on a 3 day river trip to the Rogue River in Oregon. The first 2 days on the river were class 3 rapids and I was in an inflatable kayak. I spent most of my river time concentrating on not drowning, and so got no river shots. The third day the river was mostly class 1 / 1+ and I switched to the raft and was able to get several shots on the river.

Deer at Black Bar Lodge	The deer came out shortly before dusk to graze on the lawn. They are almost tame and will allow you to come quite close.

House on the Rogue	We stopped here for lunch, on our second day on the river. The only way in is by river or by air. This shot is taken from the edge of a small landing strip by the house.

Traffic Jam	At the end of a long narrow canyon on the river, there is a small side canyon with a small but pretty water falls. It creates a traffic jam as people come in to look.
Paradise Lodge	Jeff, his daughter (near) and her friend relax at Paradise Lodge, where we stayed our second night.
Paradise Lodge	This is a shot of the river from the deck at Paradise Lodge. From here on the river is only class 1 / 1+ and jet boats bring guests up to the lodge from Gold Beach on the coast.

On the River	This begins our last day on the river. I've switched from the inflatable kayak to the raft that Jeff's friend Chris has brought, and was able to get river shots.

On the River	This is a jet boat coming up from the coast. He was kind enough to slow down so as to not swamp us.

Takeout	Jeff arranged for a service to drive 2 of our vehicles from the put in to the take out. Here we are at the take out getting ready to load up.
Snacking on the Shuttle Back	We stopped on our shuttle back to the put in for a short lunch.
Trip Home	On the trip back I headed to the coast for a day. This is an elk crossing the road on highway 101.
