In August of 2019 I took a trip to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to meet up with my high school friend Len.

We started out trip by investigating the abandoned Pennsylvania turnpike Sideling Hill and Rays Hill tunnels near Breezewood. These tunnels were abandoned in 1968. We walked through the Rays Hill tunnel and looked into the Sideling Hill tunnel. |

Penn State - Mount Nittany |
The next day we drove up to State College. We started off by climbing Mount Nittany. We both did the same climb in 1968 as part of our freshman orientation. |

Ghost Town Bicycle Trail |
The next day we drove to Dilltown and then biked from there to Nanty-Glo and back on the Ghost Town Bicycle Trail. |

Johnstown |
We started the next day at the Johnstown Flood National Memorial which overlooks the remains of the dam that burst and created the Johnstown flood. We then drove into Johnstown and loaded the car onto the inclined plane and rode up to the top. |

Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail at Akron, Ohio |
After seeing Johnstown we drove to downtown Akron, OH. The next day we rode the towpath trail from Akron north along the Little Cuyahoga River to the north end of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. |

The next day we drove to the north end of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and rode north the the outskirts of Cleveland where the trail turned into surface streets. At that point we turned around and rode back to the car. We then drove back to Pittsburgh. |

Montour Trail |
The next day we drove to Coraopolis on the other side of the Ohio River from Pittsburg and rode the Montour Trail. The trail section we rode 38 miles and was our longest ride. We finished at South Park Township and took the light rail into Pittsburg. From there we took a bus back to our starting point at Coraopolis. |
